Why do people utilise a Counsellor or Therapist?
It is important to look after ourselves, and that includes caring for our mental health.
Friends and family can be wonderful support, but you may need extra space to explore issues which may bother you, without the concern of upsetting loved ones.
As an experienced professional therapist, I can help you to broaden your perspective, aid you in finding alternative solutions to problems, and explore the meaning within any of your difficulties.
Understanding their 'inner world' helps clients to improve their overall well-being and find solutions which bring relief to their troubles.
Seeing a therapist with whom you can unload “heavy stuff”, and talk to about your problems without censoring yourself, can be the ultimate process of self-care.
Counselling is typically seen as a short-term process, and can include specific problem solving or learning of new coping techniques. This is often what brings people through the door as something specific is bothering them such as: relationship worries, mood changes, feeling isolated, work problems, big life changes, harmful thoughts, loss of joy, concern around substance use, poor sleep patterns, or feelings of anxiety or depression.
Usually 1 - 10 sessions.
Therapy is typically a longer-termed process that delves more deeply into a clients life.
It may be a better fit for people who find they have a broader range of topics and themes they wish to explore such as: building increased self-awareness, allowance of deep grief and loss, working through complex relationship difficulties, or exploring personal patterns of behaviour to create a more fulfilled life. This may also include problem solving or new learnings.
Weekly / Fortnightly / Monthly sessions for as long as desired.
